The Castles of Siena Chiantishire
Castello di Vertine – Castello di Spaltenna – Castello di Ama
The Castles of Chianti were founded between the Xth and the XIIth century on the rests of some old Roman buildings, first as headquarters of feudal owners, or as Abbeys, then as a way of protecting the lands that were contended between the Republics of Siena and Florence.
Edified and then destroyed, lost and then conquered again, each has its own special history and its fate in the Middle Ages. From Renaissance onwards, they became family homes and fortified farms, so they have arrived to our present time.Among them, there are some marked by fortifications, some for the history of their owners, some for legends or hidden treasures, like theatres or chapels with myraculous crosses, but each of them represents a treasure casket full of art and history, also due to the natural beauty around them.
Not to forget the fantastic food creations, which is possible to try, together with ”the God’s nectar” called Chianti Gallo Nero DOCG wine.
We are not promising the Moon, but much more: the jewels of our Land, with its gastronomic delights.
